It is great to see a business magazine actually look at science and technology in a thoughtful way. Sadly, ruined for me with the comment that 'our Neanderthal brains have a lot to answer for, evolutionary psychology specialists say.' Well, no decent evolutionary psychologist would say that as Neanderthals were on a different evolutionary pathway from modern humans and there was no interbreeding between Neanderthals and humans (or at least, if there was, there do not seem to be any living descendants). So, we do not, nor ever had, Neanderthal brains! Science reporting is difficult but a very elementary mistake like this makes me question the accuracy of the rest of the articles where I do not have specialist knowledge.

This is fabulous. Even though the opportunity cost of doing a mba in NZ much less than the US I have always questioned whether its a good idea while actively trying to decide if I should make the commitment.

I still like the idea of the Paris Hilton Playhouse for Sick Children. However, if you check page 2 of this week's Hutt News (that august tome from the Valley) you will see extensive pictorial coverage of the Miss Hutt Valley 2007 beauty contest. It seems some of the finalists have been reading up on Paris' more lofty ambitions, viz:

Brooke got a big round of applause with her answer on world peace.
"I don't think world peace will happen very quickly because George Bush is still the President."

[Very incisive, Brooke.]

Monique... saw things a little differently.
"I am definitely for saving the planet..."

[Didn't make you look better in the bikini section, Monique.]

Suspicion abounds that “I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world.” merely means “Please focus on anyone else, anywhere else in the world, like that Spears slapper who shaved all her hair off, or that Lohan bird who is like totally a way bigger spinner than I am. Just stop fecking focusing on me. Anyway, I've found God now so I'm only drinking altar wine.”

Two points here (thanks MW): 1) was the MTV Awards comedian(ette) correct when she suggested that the prison service was going to make the shy and retiring heiress more comfortable by painting her prison bars to look like penises?; and 2) is Stuart still getting spinach stuck in his teeth?????
