Young journos thoughts on the industry in 10-20 years

  • Growth in demand & range of mobile news content.
  • Two newsrooms - print (small, tabloid focus) and web.
  • Still be metro reporters and still be community reporters.
  • More long-form journalisms in nice containers, compelling investigative stories.
  • Are you in the NewsPAPER or News Business?? People now say News business.
  • Have no idea what platforms will look like in 20 years. Be “platform agnostic” - stop trying to figure out what is going to happen next.
  • Video not being used to full potential.
  • More geographical content available. Local reporters covering their neighbourhood and knowing everything that is happening in it.
  • Think more about how ppl are actually reading news and maximise your content delivery.
  • Aggressive on open source, agility and specialisation.
